Yet another kiddie fiddler has managed to ply his evil trade and has been able to groom at least one more innocent child right under its mother's nose. He has been "severely punished" with a wet lettuce leaf and given 4 months inside. (He may well have been released by the time I've finished typing!)

It proves, does it not, that the present system is deeply flawed? Maybe the introduction of "Sarah's Law", where paedos are "named, shamed" and the address of the sewer they're presently living in is made known to the wider community, would nip such atrocities in the bud?

Or do the "bleeding hearts" win the day again by arguing that the "human rights" of the pervert are far more precious than the safety of innocent children? Woops, no, we daren't risk having vigilante patrols on the streets. No, let our kids suffer instead, eh?

Yes, I'm well aware of what you've described. However, your post is utterly defeatist, i.e. you're patronising "Sarah's Law", but at the same time are saying that because there have been a few well documented incidents that we may as well not bother? That is the message in your post.

Well, what if the Police in Northumberland in the ongoing incident in the news for the past 3 days, live coverage of which is going on of a search in the countryside there, what if those Officers refused to search for this guy on the basis that he is armed and has a hatred of the Police? Do they just give up because of that? In case they get shot?

No, unless we have something akin to "Sarah's Law" implemented, these monsters who prey on the innocent in society will continue unabated. We cannot afford to just sit on our hands as you advocate.

You would be amazed what can get someone on the sex offenders list these days, making the register public would be a big mistake, but steps need taking to protect our children. My eldest daughter has no common sense at all, where as my youngest, I have no worries at all. Hell she wont talk to me most of the time ha ha

Interesting thing on the Bad Science site about hysterical media claims regarding "Sarah's Law" - newspapers as usual being stupid and clueless about stats, though this time abetted by the Home Office.
