Point of order - 90% of air crashes are NOT the fault of pilot error.

I watch a show on the Discovery Channel called 'Air Crash Investigation'. In met cases, crashes are caused by a series of unconnected events (eg. maintenance faults, weather, communications failures and equipment failures).

Pilot error is actually quite rare.

re the OP - yes I noticed, it was an internal flight in Pakistan, it was on the news this morning. Thought no more about it. It's a bit like the post the other day about 12000 people getting malaria in Africa - we haven't discussed that much either.

Crashes are a usually a series of events. One thing leads to another which leads to another. A dead pilot is always a good scapegoat

Air Crash Investigations is the reason I've developed a fear of flying late in life...I now know all the various ways in which a plane can fall out of the sky.
