I’ve just sat down with a cup of tea and a muffin and thought I’d catch the one o’clock news.
Of course I knew this item would be top of the bill. A couple of minutes maybe, with clips of Wills getting his wings and of Kate going to work and then off to more important matters. But no. It’s still going on (1.22pm).
We’ve had interviews with old university mates. We’ve now got a bloke standing outside RAF Valley where, apparently, Prince William “is based”. Then off to Berkshire where a woman with a microphone is standing at the end of a muddy lane with a police car parked across the entrance. This is to explain how the Middleton’s family life “will change”. And still it goes on.
Now over to George Alafia in Camp Bastion to get the reaction to the news from British troops. (I’m sure they are well pleased. It will change their lot no end).
Oh and now (1.24) for some other news. (Binyan Mohammed being awarded a wheel barrow full of money because we provided a list of questions for the Pakistani born chap to be asked whilst he was being held in the US and Morocco).
It’s a one-liner for heaven sake – “heir to the throne gets engaged” – end of story.
Back to Camp Bastion to interview RSM Mark Ellis who once met Prince William. Back to June Kelley standing outside Buck House to tell us the couple will be giving an interview later.
Viewers wanting to learn more can press the Red Button. There will be a special programme “William & Kate” at 7:30pm tonight.
Where’s Jeremy Kyle?
Sod it, my tea’s gone cold.
