Well for him to be "Done' for attempted murder they have to prove that murder was in his mind which will be hard to prove as he could just say that he just threw it near them to scare them etc..
he should be kicked out of university, he's an idiot.
Question Author
MM I would have thought he had some idea he could have killed someone by his stupid actions

dotty I agree
"should he be done for attempted murder? "

You mean ''arrested on suspicion of'' ?
Question Author
he is already in police custody Naz
So what do you mean by ''done''?
Bobbisox yes he could've killed someone but was this his intention? A drunk driver could kill someone with their stupid actions, should they be arrested for attempted murder? (Actually that would probably cut drink driving)
-- answer removed --
I don't think he was trying to actually kill anyone - it was just a stupid impulsive act. However I agree with dotty - he should at the very least be kicked out of Uni and given a very hefty fine.
Question Author
well should he be charged with attempting to kill someone?
as it was premeditated
Attempted murder and attempting to kill someone is same thing bobbisox.
Was it premeditated, or just impulsive, spur of the moment? Hard to prove....
Just stand him in the street and drop a fire-extinguisher on him ... If he lives, let him go free. if not, then we outlined the dangers of dropping stuff from buildings.
Question Author
which comes to the second part of my question,
if he did not intentionally pick it up in order to 'kill' someone because it very well could of
what do you think he should be charged with?
-- answer removed --
How about throwing him off the roof!
I feel that all the Uni-students who resorted to violence and vandalism should be kicked out and the person who chucked the extinguisher should have the book thrown at him. No doubt it will be a very small book as it will be impossible to establish any malice aforethought, unless of course he had told people beforehand what he was going to do.His actions suggest he may have been be that stupid!!
Obviously not unless he was specifically trying to kill someone.

I think in Scottish and American law it would be reckless endangerment.

Not sure what the equivilent charge would be in England.

I think there are inbetween options other than those two extremes!
And how do you know it was premeditated? So you have facts that this guy planned to get through the army of rioters and policemen, where he would gain access to the building and get to the roof where he would somehow obtain a fire extingusher and then throw it at a policeman with the clear intention of ending his life?
Question Author
good idea Naz
let the punishmient fit the crime?
only we don't do things like that...
