Frankie Boyle told a joke about Katie Price's son Harvey on a recent show:

Should CH4 apologise, or is a joke just a joke.

By the way, the link above doesn't contain the joke itself because frankly, it IS tasteless in the extreme...however, the Daily Mail published the joke in their coverage:

everyone has that moment in daily conversation where they want to say whatever thought has entered their mind but first must ask if it is appropriate. even free spirits become entangled in these social constraints. luckily for forensicators, i.e. humorous interpretation performers, these boundaries are somewhat muddied and can be tip-toed, or rushed,...

I have trouble understanding why other people don't seem to see the same boundaries as me............

I genuinely DO believe that some things are sacrosanct and that there are and should be some sacred cows.

These have nothing to do with Family Guy, American Dad or some other 'adult' humour.
hear hear Jack
I do think some of his jokes are offensive....but the rest of the show is funny.
that could explain why it aint half hot mum, in sickness and in health, and bernard manning are not considered funny (or broadcastable) any more.

my generation never found them funny. boundaries move with the generations. backwards and forwards.
Well then they're going forward in a way i don't like Ankou.

they should both apologise, him for saying it and channel 4 for broadcasting it
Like him or loathe him - does Frankie Boyle material really qualify as jokes? He certainly has a warped sense of humour when you consider his targets. His pointed attacks would certainly lead to a perma ban if they were uttered on Answerbank.

Regarding apologies, yes, Channel 4 should clear the air. After all, it was a recorded show and they gave it air time unedited. Like him or loathe him? For me, it's the latter.
/// Trust the Daily Wail to use it as an excuse to publish the joke in full.
All the other papers just refered to a ''tasteless joke'' ///

I wondered how long it would take for someone to criticise the Daily Mail for reporting the facts.

How else are the public expected to show their utter contempt against this loathsome person and his sick insulting 'joke', if they don't know what the 'joke' was.

Frankie Boyle should be cast out to the TV wilderness, the place that some comedians have been sent, never to return, for the lesser crime of telling jokes that are not strictly PC.
Like who?

Hmmm...

Both China Doll and jackthehat have mentioned what must be the most offensive programme currently broadcast on TV (Family Guy).

Now this programme has included jokes which have offended me directly, but because the jokes are so good - it kind of 'deflects' the offense.

In a single episode of Family Guy you can quite easily see offensive black jokes, Asian jokes, terrorist jokes, gay jokes, Jewish jokes, fat people jokes, White people jokes, but I've never heard of anyone actually complaining about the show.

AOG

They didn't need to repeat the joke in order to report on the story...however it has proved useful because now we can judge it on it's merits (or lack thereof).
They don't complain about Family Guy due to the fact that the TV has an off button.

Last night's family guy had a song and dance routine about down's syndrome, which I didnt find funny and was in pretty poor taste but I wouldn't think to complain about it.
Family Guy has had many complaints against some of it's jokes sp, we don't hear about the complaints here because it is an American programme and all complaints are directed at the people who make it. It has been pulled from the air (in the USA) on more than one occasion.

I like Frankie Boyle, I find most of his jokes funny, the Harvey 'joke' was distasteful in the extreme though! I may have been more offended by that particular joke as I have a son who has a disability and it hit too close to home.
talking about tasteless jokes.
what does DIANA stand for? died in a nasty accident.
