Is it possible for a female to comprehend the offside law?

Given the recent gaff by Andy Gray and co regarding femail lineswomen. Would any of the ladies on here care to explain the offside law?

Without doing any searches etc. I think you have to have two defenders between the footballer when he kicks the ball and the goal. Think the goalie doesn't count? Not into football at all!

I understand the offside rule, but I can only explain it by drawing it. I had to do this to prove I understood it once it was explained to me.

Why would we care?

In proper games, like Lacrosse, there is no offside law.

Of course it may be, just may be, that most women have more pressing matters to attend to whilst their menfolk are busy watching the Footy. Like cooking, cleaning, washing, ironing, taking the children to school, ferrying them about afterwards, cleaning the house.

It's just a thought.

it is difficult to put into words, I'll have a go...
A player is offside if he is closer to the goal than the second last opponent and the ball, if he is not in his own team's half of the field.
Of course then there's the whole active play thing....

Yes we do understand it but it's a stupid rule,and it's become a stupid game!

A footballer is offside if: when the ball is played by a team-mate, they are nearer to the opposition's goal line than both the ball and the second last opponent. (includes the keeper unless he has gone walkabout see Barthez Fabien)

To be offside a player must be "actively involved in play". but this can include distracting or blocking a member of the other team even if they don't actually touch the ball is that ok or have I missed something

It'd be a lot easier to scrap it. Who cares if some opposing player 'goal hangs' ? Kick 'im in the nuts and he'll soon move out.

What I couldn't believe was that a pair of numpties like Gray and Keys, who couldn't even tell you how many laws of the game there are let alone the intricacies of the offside rule, could see fit to criticise anyone - a clear case of sexism.

I'll try to word how I understand it and someone can tell me I'm wrong.

Fabregas is heading towards the goal, Nasri forward passes the ball to Fabregas but if there is no play from the opposing team either level with, or ahead of Fabregas when the ball is passed, Fabregas is offside.......?

If the offsde rule is clear (and I don't think it is). Why do so many ref's Keep getting it wrong?
