I have a pine bed that has slats that are no longer stuck to the frame. I intended to just get new screws but there are no local DIY shops and Woolworthss has closed down. All DIY shops are out of town and I have no car ........ etc
Can I superglue the slats back down?
I hammered in the screws when I put the bed together - but couldn't give them a enough of a bash to get them right in.
My brother bought me a toolkit with an rechargeable screwdriver for my birthday last year - there are no instructions in it at all.
It doesn't say whether to make holes before trying to stick a screw in to join the two planks together. I tried earlier and the screw kept wobbling and whirling around but not going into the wood.
I will leave it until tomorrow - try and replan my attempt.
Don't be ridiculous. Glue the slats down?
7 x 1 1/4" screws will be fine .. one each end of each slat into the frame supports.
You should drill a pilot in the slat first ideally .. with a 2mm drill bit.
I don't have a drill so that won't work. I might try and get some screws off ebay. Tesco in town have no longer got a little DIY bit - where they had wood glue.
If all else fails I will pay someone to do it - I have a couple of other little jobs needing done.
I am considering buying some screws for this job and another off ebay.
The other screw that I need is 50mm long with a 50p shaped head to it. Do I measure just the long bit of the screw or from the head? The ebay seller that I found gave two different measurements for the screw - 9mm x 50mm (can't remember the actual figures).
You could try NoNails adhesive, Wolfy - its very strong and waterproof (not that I am suggesting you wet the bed or anything) Mr. Den uses is a lot of different jobs.
The nail no more strips seem to be working but I think that my 'lovely' brother might have to bring his drill with him when he next visits - maybe some screws too.
Anyway it is all his fault - he moved south to Engerlund.
