I made myself a snowmanl
As perfect as can be
I thought I'd keep it as a pet
And let it sleep with me.
I made it some pyjamas
And a pillow for it's head
But then it went and ran away
But first it wet the bed.
The little snake crawled home one day
His mum said "what's amiss?"
"The other snakes won't let me go
into their pit and hiss"
"Well never mind my little one
It's not a lot you're missing
Sure I can always remember the time
they didn't have a pit to hiss in."
Thanks for the prompt, Ratty. It reminded me of when my younger daughter was just learning the delights of comic poetry, but hadn't quite got the hang of it, she tried to "Little Worm".
She still remembers it as:
"One day I saw a little worm, wriggling on its belly.
I stood and watched it for a while - then stamped it with my boot"
