A little girl, dressed in her Sunday best, was running as fast as she could,

trying not to be late for Sunday School
As she ran she prayed,

'Dear Lord, please don't let me be late! Dear Lord,
please don't let me be late!'
While she was running and praying, she tripped on a curb and fell,
getting her clothes dirty and tearing her dress.

She got up, brushed herself off, and started running again!
As she ran she once again began to pray,
'Dear Lord, please don't let me be late...

But please don't push me over again either.!

Yes I have that too OG LOL ;)
Headwreck - I run a church ladies group which meet twice a month. I organise speakers and put on special evenings etc. A couple of years ago I decided to produce a newsletter for all the members which contain lots of articles and newsy items in addition to inspirational and christian stories etc. So I look around for jokes, tips, poems, places to visit, recipes and incorporate them too - everyone seems to appreciate it.
Headwreck There is usually a number of a secretary that works a few hours week taking calls etc and you ring that number or more intimidating still call in!!
Crosser
What denomination is your church headwreck? I know the C of E parish magazine in our town is full of articles but they don't seem to be of local interest. Our church is independent, evangelical (but not too charasmatic) similar to a baptist chapel.

Yes have heard it HW - it is a good lesson!

The Donkey and the well story, The Story about Not Giving Up

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.

Finally he decided since the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway, it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. So, the farmer invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed shovels, and began to shovel dirt into the well.

All the other farm animals were very upset about this, because the donkey was their friend. But they discovered there was nothing they could do to help him. At first, when the donkey realized what was happening, he cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement, he quietened down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well, and was astonished at what he saw.

With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off, and take a step up on the dirt as it piled up. As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well, and trotted off!

MORAL LESSON:
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. But each trouble can be a stepping stone. What happens to you isn't nearly as important as how you react to it. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not giving up!

When the DIRTS of life come upon us – and all of us will become dirty – we can shake that dirt off by setting our minds and our belief toward God. The dirt (strugles of life) do not have to overcome us. We can allow God’s power to lift us above that dirt.

Remember, it is not the burdens of life that weigh us down, it is how we handle them

Shake it off, and take a step up!
