Leaking Garden Shed Roof

I have a fairly new garden shed that a friend put up for me. When we recently had some heavy rain I noticed it was leaking. It was leaking quite badly - I had to put a bucket to catch the drops. I haven`t climbed up to see if I can find where the leak is yet but anyway, how do I repair it? Would it be OK to get some roofing felt and patch it or would I have to cover a whole side of the roof with new felt? (I`m wondering if the banging in of new nails might make it even more leaky)

Personally I wouldn't start talking about a repair until the cause of the leak is found. Until such time believe it pointless to going spending on felting etc.

What else could it be if it not a hole/tear in the felt?

BTW - it has an Apex roof

It most likely is a nail hole or something like that, but it's possible to repair without nailing felt over it. You could maybe use something like this.

You will only need to paint that stuff over and around the nail /s that is causing the leak.

I recently had to do a repair to my shed roof and it seems to be holding out ok so far.
I went to a DIY store and bought a reel of tape, known as 'flashing band', in the middle of the reel, is a small tin of felt primer, to paint on, before sticking down, the self adhesive strip.
The job was easier than I imagined, luckily I had a small scrap of felt to use as a patch. No nails used.

Thanks for the further replies. I have climbed up and I think the leak might be from a nail. That Thomsons stuff is a whole litre can which seems a bit excessive for one or two nails. Is there anything else I can buy?

Have you also checked along the apex for splits ?, as this can often happen.
I also had some enlarged nail holes, due to shrinkage/movement. what I did to combat that was, pull out the old nails and replace them with slightly longer ones but drive the nails in a different spot and daub some primer into the old holes, then cover with flashing band.

I daubed some of that Thomsons stuff over the hole but to be honest, I don`t think it`s going to work. I expect I will have to use the flashing band
