Another young life wasted and the perpetrators will probably never be caught, other than increasing stop and search what can be done to stop this increase in knife crime.

And before anyone blames May and cuts in the police you would a copper on every corner to stop, stabbings, acid attacks, scooter thieves and terrorists.

stabbing comes in two flavours
one to teach the stabbed a lesson - by er stabbing him
one strike - in a place the gormless stabber thinks is harmless - neck - well away from the heart

and wanting to kill - 25 to 40 strikes - 'frenzied'
sort of everywhere

and yeah I think the kids need to be re-told that one stab ( neck ) may well kill

it is a bit like the acid throwers - they really dont realise the consequences.

I am not sure that putting a knife carrier in prison
will make him think - o yeah when I come out I wont carry one and I will tell all my frenz not to either

There is a need to find a solution though, when folk can legitimately claim they feel a need to be armed to fend off other armed folk. It's a situation already allowed to get out of hand.

Would building a Prison in an Isolated area with no visitors allowed do the trick? as it is of now, the prisoners seem to get all the comforts of home, Just a thought.

A prison term is meant to detain you from the outside world, depriving you of your freedom to stop you going where you want, restrict you from your family and friends etc, I think a prison cell does that quite effectively, dont you?

Ratter, from what I understand from a person I once knew, the mod cons are there if asked for, 3 Meals a day, Heating 24hrs a Day, showers daily, Daily Papers, a wage???? A Gym although behind bars and supposed to be a deterrent how is it a few return? how many people on this site could affort to heat their homes 24/7? winter is on us & we will see / hear reports of persons dying from the cold, people that can not feed themselves, for a person that put's a knife into another person, do you mean to tell me he / she should have these comforts, it's my own opinion & I will keep to that.

Prison doesn't seem to be working for those committing knife crimes.They would be better employed doing 'hard labour'.I don't mean sewing mail bags or doing woodwork. Why not send them, under supervision of course to help to rebuild some of the places abroad. There is so much rebuilding to be done in countries that have been ravaged by war. Maybe by doing something constructive it might help them to turn their lives around.

They could be made under supervision to assist in repairing the numerous pot holes we have In our roads Andre, it does not need a person with brains to dig out the hole before repairs are carried out, but I'm sure the HR would kick up about that.

I definitely wasn't inferring 'chain gangs ' .Instead I was thinking of changing them into decent human beings doing some good for once; something that prison doesn't seem to be doing .There are enough dossers in the UK that can fill the potholes in!

Whilst knife crime remains mainly a a black crime, nothing further will be done that is likely to cause offence, therefore such crimes will continue to be handled with kid gloves.

Hence the continuous opposition to stop and search operations and the removal of CCTV from a Muslim area.

TWR, we are in general a civilised country, being locked up in a prison deprives a person of many things, enabling prisoners to engage in a civilised activity can be a distraction that will occupy their time and keep their brains active. Without such things I imagine they will occupy their time by being destructive and upset the smooth running of an already overstretched prison service. Its also worth pointing out that not all prisoners are mass murderers and serial rapists.
I think think that some sentences should be much harsher than they are and some not so! Some should have their testicles removed by a ferret chewing on them!

As quickly as they earn the privilege to have a TV they can lose it by stepping out of line.

Privileges are a bargaining tool.

TWR - have you ever thought that so many return because they have nothing on the outside? No home, no decent family, no job, no money. I don't think it's the luxury of having heating, a shower and crap food that's luring them back.
