The K M Links Game - April Week 1 Results

Good morning everyone - well the sun is back but there's a very distinct nip in the air first thing in the morning, so no more bare feet for me !!
Actually I thought there was a hint of frost on the grass earlier and that's not like our weather pattern at all - a long cold winter ahead maybe ?

As for the links, points were a bit hard to come by, too many possibles again,

English Mustard

Several players managed three points for their two correct, but the Star Turn came from FIBONACCI who collected the 2 Bonus points for selecting Rock Cake .....nice going, Fibs.

Just a word in passing - the results will probably be a little late now the clocks have gone back, 8.30 when the Telegraph comes online is not a time i see very often, so bear with me please.

Goodmorning, Could you explain this game please and the scoring. I realise what you have to do, but are there any clues? Do the words have to link in some way? How is it scored? What is the link with the Telegraph? Many thanks

Good morning Aunt Polly, ok the reference to the Telegraph is - we use the shaded clues in the Saturday GK crossword as our link words and the shaded clues in the Monday Herculis provides our answers ....however our game is in no way connected to the Times puzzles.

The idea is simply to see if we can match/predict what those answers will be and when the Monday crossword comes on line, I can score the weekend's game and post the scores accordingly...

All four correct - 10 points
3 correct - 6 points
2 correct - 3 points
1 correct - 1 point

If there is only one person selecting a particular match, as there was today, that person receives 2 bonus points.

Each Saturday morning, I post the clues from that days crossword, it's usually the entry prior to the one starting the game, and each clue gives a fair idea of what the answer might NOT be ....I realise that sounds a bit confusing but when there are multiple possibilities anything that can be eliminated does help...ie the clue for which 'English' was the link referred to roses so the answer was very unlikely to be English Rose.

I do hope that answers some of your questions and that you continue to take part in a game that's been going for about 12 years now, providing a challenge and an enjoyment to a number of people.
