Do you like watching it? Dr Johnson said, "Sir, a woman's preaching is like a dog's walking on his hind legs. It is not done well; but you are surprised to find it done at all!"
Could this apply to football?

Don't please get me wrong, I think there are lots of sports women are good at & a pleasure to watch, golf, swimming, athletics.
It's probably me, but I fail to get excited about it.

Stand back & waits for onslaught.

Absolutely, can't wait for the final tomorrow!
I fail to understand why women should be any less talented at kicking a ball about than a man. Rugby, well that's a different thing, but football is a cissy sport anyway!
Simple answer - I can't stand it and will be glad when it is off the box!
A simple question. Is it because they are women or the fact they are playing football?
I don’t care for football but women playing it is just wrong to me somehow - like women wresting - or women body builders rippling with muscles - or women playing cricket - or drinking pints. It’s just … well …. unwomanly. That said, I saw on the news last night one of those girls score the most incredible goal - backwards. Absolutely brilliant! Well done that girl! I’ve never seen a man do that.
Simple, if you don’t enjoy it, don’t watch it, but don’t be so boring as to join the band of whingers who criticise the very existence of the sport. I don’t enjoy rugby, golf or tennis but I wouldn’t go around criticising their spectators. Womens football has had peanuts for investment compared to the men’s game, the standard is only going upwards as coaching becomes more readily available and more players participate . I attend both men’s and women’s games and enjoy both equally. I hope the England women bring it home tomorrow.
naomi so what is your idea of 'womanly'? Simpering while stroking a kitten and telling a man how soft and helpless you are? Good Grief.
My husband doesn’t care for football either - he’s a rugby man - but the Cross of St George is flying merrily on our flagpole. We wish them every success.
schippiegalette, haaaa! Do I sound like a ‘simperer’? I think not. How funny!

No dear chap …. my own personal standards, that’s all.
I would only watch the big games played by men as football isn't my thing but this current England team are very elegant and skilful to watch. What I can't stand is the female commentator and that is enough to put me off. And as to your first sentence, I'm not the least religious but every church wedding or funeral I've been to in the last few years has had a female 'vicar'. They just don't do it for me either.

I can't justify either of those views but that's how I feel.
I'm still waiting for an answer naomi to what you feel is 'womanly' ha Ha
Nor me, Prudie - and one of my best friends is a vicar!
None of the above, schippiegalette.
England’s Lionesses have been brilliant to watch and this tournament has been a breakthrough as far as viewers are concerned. Watching tomorrow expecting a big roomful of supporters.
The skill level has improved greatly over the last 5 years.
i think if you view women's football as simply a different sport to men's football, it begins to make a lot more sense.
Although they play with the same equipment and to the same rules, it's a different sport, played in a different way. Therefore comparing it to men's football make about as much sense as comparing volleyball with golf - ie none!
Prudie, our recently retired hospital Chaplin is female, and quite simply one of the best communicators and empathetic people I have met. So much better at the job than any of the men we have had.
They kick a ball about with the intention of scoring a goal. No difference at all from the men's game. Same rules, same penalties.
I've always found male Vicars creepy.
Something weird about women playing football.
(Or, has as been pointed out, wrestling, body building, cricket or drinking pints)

Ultimately nature is yin and yang / male and female etc.
Male's on the whole, do not find muscled females sexual attractive,
in the same way that females don't find wimpy males attractive.

Its nature. Deal with it,

If you do find your own sex attractive, great! Not got a problem.
Just dont force it on me.
All this Rainbow stuff etc.
I couldnt care less what you find attractive.

Lots of people I know have wimpy husbands and partners so that's one theory debunked. Aggressive Alpha woman often go for wimpy partners so they can boss them about. I hate body building males but like a male with muscles that have been gotten with work, not in the Gym.
