My sister told me, ages ago, that microscopic creatures live on your eyelashes and travel up and down them. If you leave mascara on at night the creatures won't be able to oil your eyelashes, then your eyelashes won't be conditioned and healthy.
Sounds a bit mad, but it could be true. Do any of you know?

Yeah! These microscopic eyelash lubricators are often seen partying with the the tooth fairies and and the little blokes from fridges that are responsible for switching the light off when you shut the door.
Compare the size of the mites in the picture with the hair. They are actually visible to the naked eye, and some doctors are aware of this and will look for them in cases of eye infection. Trouble is, they tend to come out in darkness rather than when it's light.

Thank you for your sensible answers, and the stupid one too. So, is going to bed with mascara on, a good or bad thing?
If you're male, people might talk! ;-)

From what I just read, you can get too many of those creatures in one eyelash follicle and your eyelash falls out cos there's not room for it as well. But I don't see how mascara could affect this.
I can't be bothered to remove all my mascara when I go to bed cos it's too time consuming, and I'm lazy. But I would bother if I thought leaving it on, would have a detrimental effect. Can anyone tell me the right answer, thank you.

Not sure if I would class mascara as dirt though, but as I don't want to risk losing any eyelashes I'll remove it. Thanks.
oooh theyre ugly wee buggas
Ugh. Remove make-up before you go to bed. If you wake up in the morning then you can cheer yourself by adding some slap.Of course it you look like that WITH makeup there's not a lot you can do.

I did think about crabs but have no idea how they could be passed from the nether regions to the eyebrows or eyelashes. Surely you'd just hold hands, until you were married?

I don't wear make up, other than mascara. I wash my face thoroughly with cleansers and toners etc. But waterproof mascara is a hassle to remove. Don't fret I wil either remove the mascara or not wear any.
Ah... They sound kinda friendly in those links. They're our friends. The worst thing about leaving mascara on, (which i do regularly as i'm far too lazy to remove it all just before bed) is when you get the marks on the pillow, they're a NIGHTMARE to get off. Now thats another subject, sorry :-)

Yes,the last line about us being the bug's whole universe made me smile : ).
Its never a good idea to sleep with eye make-up on, your eyes are precious and need to be looked after well.
