I'll do this here instead of on another thread that made me think of it. Does it annoy you when people use words in the wrong way or use the wrong word in a sentence?
For example, my boyfriend frequently says the word "went" instead of "gone". Like, "We could have went there". It reeealllly grates on me.
Yes, I have a good friend who lives in Leeds and he often refers to people he's close to as "are kid" (as opposed to "our kid"). I find it to be a strange mixture of annoying and touching at the same time.
Yes I hate it in some tv progs when the character says '' can I lend a fiver off of you'' & in EE they always say wiv & wivart I wish they'd speak proper like wot I do.Ron.
I can`t stand "I was sat, instead of I was sitting" Even journalists and news commentators say that now.
The BBC has started saying "airplane" instead of aeroplane. That annoys me as well.
plus a Beeb reporter said something today which grated on me. Obviously it annoyed me so much I can't remember. All I do remember is grrrr, Aunty Beeb, get it right!!!!
