what is the best thing to treat hay fever ? some medications say they dont make you drowsy ..but i think they did me last year ....

try a spray called beconase from boots or superdrug my husbands hayfever is chronic and it just about helps him thru the day. failing that i would suggest getting the hayfever injections from your doctor in early spring of next year. it doesnt cure it completely but really does help ease it.

thanks naflharrison ...i will try a that spray just hope it dont make me throat go funny ...if it not work i will put a plastic bag over my head when i go out lol my eyes very sore ..

sleepyj - careful now...Beconase goes up your nose, not in your throat.

i use it - it's great - and for particularly bad days i also take one-a-day Zirtec antihistamine, does not cause any drowsiness.

Different things work for different people but having tried everything available to me, the only thing that works is cetrizine (Zirtek), which you can buy off the shelf at Tesco for �1.49 for a fortnight's supply! (rebranded as Tesco Allergy relief but the exact same tablets)

I get horrendous hayfever but I find loratadine, combined with eye drops and beconese nasal spray helps me for most of the year. Unfortunately the old "may"fever is the worst, a good combinations of all types of allergens in the air, damn those pesky trees.

I get it from the doctors but I think its also known as claritin, fristamin, clarymin and roletra. The dosage I am prescribed is higher than normal and is supposedly sedating at this level but I h ave never had that problem.

Also to add, I had a hayfever injection last month to get me through this month. Its a steroid based injection so you cant have it a lot. It's ideal if you find that there are certain times of year where your hayfever makes life a little debilitating, which i think for most of us who suffer is May!

I had that last year Goodsoulette! Unfortunately I had to change GPs surgeries between last summer and this summer and my new surgery won't prescribe it because of the risk of it giving you diabetes amongst other things!

You could always try a natural remedy. Feverfew is supposed to be excellent for hayfever.

That sucks chazza, although saying that I did chicken pox last year even though I have already had it and thats possibly because I had had the injection.
