When teaching my sister to use a cooking recipe, My sister said "Use a knob of butter, what is a knob?" And mum said without batting an eye "I will show you how to measure a Knob"

I managed to get myself detention in cookery lesson in school for going into hysterical laughter with my friend when we saw this in a recipe. That was in 1965 when I was 16-good to see youngsters still laugh at the same things that are meant to be taken seriously!

just out of curiosity, how did she measure a knob?

I was trying to explain to my daughter how much a knob was but didn't know how to!
