Hard to say who the Riley was who was having such a good time. However, there was a song from 1919 by H. Pease called My Name Is Kelly, which included the line 'Faith and my name is Kelly Michael Kelly / But I'm living the life of Reilly just the same.' No-one seems to know if this is the source or if the phrase already existed.
