Has anybody got the Roman town? Ad Pontem has been suggested, but I think that's too far north. Only likely candidate I can see is Margidunum...

I, too, think that Ad Pontem is too far north but Margidunum is much too far to the west to agree with Mr. Fautley's instructions. I do not know the absolute, precise location of Ad Pontem but I think that it is about two miles further away than the instructions would suggest.

Thanks for that, Stew. Second village is definitely Langar (where Samuel Butler was born), so could be Margidunum five miles north-ish?
