Good morning everyone - from a pleasantly nippy hq, where it';s Mad Monday and we're all at sixes and sevens but hopefully all this will improve as the day goes on !!

As far as the links go ...well all at sea might be a good term ....I'm sorry my 'etc's made it tricky, those clues do go on a bit, but I have to say that the one word NOT mentioned in the last clue is the match....ie ROYAL !!

OK the STAR TURNS scoring 6 points came from CLIFFYG, LYSANDER & TEACHER1, who also added the BONUS two points for selecting Royal Gala ...

.and commiserations to poor CUPID who's gnashing her teeth because she put Royal and changed it !!!

Well that was a very tricky bunch but we got there in the end and as always, I learned something new ...whether it will ever be useful is another thing, but there you go.

Easter is with us next weekend and while a number of things close down, HQ will be here, probably with chocolate all over it's face and I hope to see most/all of you over that time.

It was Arky who said I needed to change royal gala because 'royal' was in the clue. Last time I take any notice of that muppet ;-))

I got quite excited when I saw you'd picked Royal ...after the clue i didn't think anyone would then i found the change and thought ....NO !!

You do right Cupid please ignore my misguided advice in future. My understanding is that if it mentioned in the clue then it's not accepted as a point scoring word. My apologies Cupid, I did only suggest a re-think. Xx

Hi Arky .....yes of course a word appearing in the clues can be used in an answer, however time has suggested it's not likely to be used in the match....but that doesn't mean it never would be ....clear as mud, isn't it !!

I only post the clues for people unlikely to see the paper before they post their entry but I admit to shortening the longer clues ...perhaps I'll cease that practice and put the whole thing in.

However people are free to put whatever they wish and perhaps we'll just leave them to do just that ...saves trying to catch up with them later.....;))
