This is turning from the relief of finding the boys to the devastation of one of the rescuers being killed trying to transport oxygen to the boys. I can't begin to imagine how these boys must be feeling right now and their parents too, not to mention all the rescuers risking their lives and their families. How on earth are they going to get them out of there?!

doubt the boys have been told ! looking grim..
I really hope that something can be done, such a tragic loss of a brave man :(
Belgian diver Ben Reymenants: "We expect that the first two football players will reach the exit today, in the best case scenario."
I bet they haven't told the coach either. He must surely be feeling bad enough as it is without hearing of the death of a would-be rescuer.
They must get a couple of the stronger boys out successfully and that should boost the rest. Got everything crossed here that they get out safely and soon.
Why on earth did some idiot take them in?
Apparently it was OK when they went in and then the rains came:-(. However, I believe they're due.
^ they were due.
It's a 5 hour trip from where the boys are to the mouth of the cave for an experienced cave-diver; therefore, for (I would expect) 2 rescue divers and an completely inexperienced person would be considerably longer. I'm just wondering if there is enough time left before more downpours occur and/or the oxygen content of the air where the boys are trapped falls to dangerously low limits.

They can fix that
/// Authorities are now working to get a 5km (3 mile) cable into the cave to supply the group with air ///
It sounds like a nightmare. One man has died- I hope they get them out safely.
A hugely complicated rescue.

RIP Saman Gunan.
Yes, I read that, Baldric...Let's hope that they can get it snaked in and working. That would considerably improve the situation.

Really ? crikey !!
5 hours against the tide...
At a press conference The state governor says they will need to “test the plan” once they have decided upon it. He adds that the boys have “already learned” to dive.

Whatever they do will need to be done as quick as possible as more rain has been forecast for Sunday! :(
No rescue attempt today

The governor, Narongsak Osottanakorn, is asked if he will try to rescue the boys today should the rain begin to fall. No, he says.
As its after midnight in Thailand "today" means Saturday.
The critical thing they have to learn is to breathe normally and calmly using the regulator. They wouldn't even have to use tanks as they would, I'm assuming, be using what is called an octopus-regulator which is attached to one of the rescue divers tanks. One reason for them not having tanks is that in some narrow areas the air-tanks have to be pushed ahead of the diver and not worn on the back.
I should have added that in conditions like this cave-divers usually have side-mounted tanks which can be quickly be de-attached from the body and pushed ahead of the diver.
