Isn't he the man for the job? a leading article in today's Telegraph suggests so, he left the government over Chequers showing resolve, his best qualities are charisma, clarity of philosophy and willingness to take risks. He is, like his hero Churchill, a singular man waiting to be called. Such politicians are often disliked for long periods of time, until their colleagues suddenly realise they were right all along and that, even if they are not necessarily wanted, they are needed. This feels more and more like the hour of Boris Johnson.
Do you agree?
He's an out and out liar full stop. He tweeted he'd just voted in the local elections and urged everyone else to do the same, til it transpired that there were no local elections he could have voted in, then he deleted his tweet. Not only is he a liar and therefore untrustworthy, he's not even very good at it, and some people want that running the country?
I suppose it's understandable that Churchill is his hero. Churchill had no scruples and was callous in his leadership. Are those the things that Boris wants to emulate?
For him to have a chance he’d have to come through the Parliamentary party vote and I’d say there’s next to no chance of that unless the PP has disintegrated by then.
If the Tories have any sense they’ll somehow try to find a candidate to unite them. Johnson emphatically is not that person.
According to polls, which some assure us are a reliable indication of public opinion, quite curiously he comes out as both the best – and the worst - choice. Not to everyone’s taste perhaps – but rather unique and not easily ignored.
