That would be a travesty.

I think it's already been passed Marval
All of a sudden, it seems, the government is finding money for this, that, and the other. Where does it come from, and how do I get a job as an MP?
Boris says he is struggling to survive on his PMs salary now he has lost his pay as a journalist, and all the other fingers in the pie he had before becoming PM.
Disgraceful!
Read 'em and weep:

How can anyone struggle to survive on almost £159,000 a year?
No, they shouldn't get that. It's a pretty high salary as it is and a lot of them have not had to travel to London and have the expense of staying there for debates. JRM was right yesterday in saying that MPs should be setting an example in working normally. Don't forget that their salaries are boosted by all sorts of expenses that can be claimed for, so I think that they should consider hard before accepting a rise - perhaps ask their constituents for their opinions?
Not ideal timing, but being linked to a reasonable measure is a decent system. Maybe they could vote to voluntarily forgo this once, in the circumstances.
***Unpopular Opinion Alert***

I think our rank and file MPs are underpaid - I’d pay them £250k a year in order to attract some decent talent, but with a proviso it has to be their full time job.

Cue the almost inevitable “yer but nurses deserve more”

I'd go with that, dd. But I think there should be far fewer of them. Say around 400 max.
I agree too. Attract some proper business brains but less of them.

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) makes the decision, not the government. I hope it will be rejected.
JIM, how many MPs receive almost £159,000 a year?
16:50 "Boris says he is struggling to survive on his PM's salary"

Turn up when they feel like it - often go to sleep on the job - several very long breaks each year - lucrative pension guaranteed.

Nice job if you can get it.
JIM, didn't see that, mind you, think how much child maintenance he must have to pay...
Nice job if you can get it.

If you look at some of the buffoons that are or have been MP's it isn't that unattainable.
Boris struggles because he has kids to support, alimony, a new partner, baby, and sundry other incidentals, in this i do think one should cut him some slack, not only that but his other earnings are now defunct...
Disgusting!
There was an interesting article a few weeks back that states if Boris entertain friends at his residence he gets a bill for each friend in attendance I think it’s was around the 50 mark.
There are senior civil servants getting more than the prime minister!
Whilst the rank and file civil servants most haven’t had a pay rise in over 10 years
