//Keir Starmer faces serious questions about his links with charities and lawyers who have campaigned to thwart our work to stop the boats// says Robert Jenrick, Minister for Immigration.

//Labour tried to block our Stop The Boats Act in Parliament, voting against it more than 80 times – and now their colleagues and pals are working to sabotage our plan in the courts. //

//Today we learn that a top lawyer who advised Labour on anti-racism policies is at the forefront of efforts to stop people being deported to Rwanda. //

I suppose it could be argued that had the government actually done anything to stop the invasion this wouldn't be 'a thing'.

Too much sitting around fretting about how things will look instead of action has left them open to sabotage of what they eventually try to do.

We, the public, have short memories, especially if an action gets a good result.
Well it’s hardly a surprise .

“Today we learn that a top lawyer who advised Labour on anti-racism policies is at the forefront of efforts to stop people being deported to Rwanda”
All these groups are legal are they not?
Where on earth is the story here?
So let me get this straight, the Tories have something like an 60 seat majority in the House of Commons, and this man (and Labour), are able the thwart the will of the Tory government – my estimation of his/their abilities has increased considerably, unless the Tories are just useless.
The Rwanda thing has always been just a ploy for the Government to do nothing.
It was poorly conceived, and was always going to reduce the 100,000 illegal immigrants by a couple of dozen.
The one plane that was chartered for hundreds of thousands of pound but never took off had 17 people on board.

For this to solve the illegal immigrant problem would cost tens of billions of pounds which we don’t have.

So well done Starmer for opposing this folly/stunt.
In April 2022 I posted this.

// // Australia’s offshoring is very expensive for the tax payers. Each migrant costs £1.7 million to offshore.

It is revealing that the UK has not specified how many migrants it will send. If the UK proposal is based on the Australian scheme, the £120million would offshore 70 migrants. Last year we had 28,000 illegal migrants.

To offshore all 28,000 would cost £ 47.6 Billion. //

Since that post, another 70,000 have arrived. Sending them to Rwanda will bankrupt the country.
Your missing the point that its a deterrent discouriging people from getting in dingys to come here... Worth trying surely
Yes I am fed up of the lack of action and the way evrry idea is thwarted and dismissed as cruel by people who deliberatly overlook the obvious- there coming from a safe country. But lawyers have to do what there required to do. And the goverment should be able to push things through with a majority in parliment and Lords so hard to have sympathy and blame Keir and lawyers
New Judge wrote in April 2022…

// I said in a thread a couple of weeks ago when this hare-brained scheme was announced, that we should have a look at its success in a few months. Then we shall see. //

And 16 months later, no one has been deported to Rwanda.

It is a con. A gimmick. Not a serious attempt to stop illegal immigration.
So why does so many object to it on human rights grounds... why not let the goverment try it and if it fails say 'told you so'... maybe because its opponents are afraid it might actual deter migrants in dingies...
We gave Rwanda the £120Million up front in April 2022 and 16 months later what have we got to show for it?

- Absolutely nothing.
The UN Refugee Convention says this:-
No Contracting State shall expel or return a refugee in any manner whatsoever to the frontiers of territories where his life or freedom would be threatened on account of his race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion.

A US State Department report of 2020 on Rwanda stated that political opponents have been detained in “unofficial” detention centres and that persons so detained have been subjected to torture and article 3 ill-treatment, short of torture.

But rest assured our refugees can be safely deported to Rwanda, as Rwanda has said in a Memorandum of Understanding that it won’t do that to our refugees, who are different to other refugees.
The combined definition of Lies, incompetence, corruption, arrogance, stupidity, and indolence is......Government.
The combined definition of Lies, incompetence, corruption, arrogance, stupidity, and indolence is.....the usual suspects on AB
screams of harassment, stalking and the usual whatever

so the insults to AB get taken out.....
and the insults about the current govt .... remain

such is life on AB boys and girls
and as Naomi said so wisely " yes it is"
[ AB in all its forms]
I think some of the comments here are very un-mimsy and should be deleted stat ( none of he 15 mins crap)
Any self-respecting African national leader would have salted-away that £120 million between himself, family and friends. Given how desperate the UK government is for this scheme to work, I’d be asking for another £120 million, or the deals off.
We aren't returning refugees. We are trying to transport illegal economic migrants. Although this has been pointed out umpteen times before, but apparently fails to register.

Mr. Starmer seems to have something to answer for; no doubt he has an explanation and the Sun newspaper simply has the wrong end of the stick.
The Government have a lot to answer for. They have been in power for 13 years and our immigration is a shambles.
Blaming an opposition that has 76 fewer MPs is just pathetic.
Useless and wasting m£millions at the same time.
Maybe im in the minority here, but my company have been crying out for unskilled workers such as these.Plenty of orders(thank you Spanish paella eaters),but no-one to process the orders.A crazy situation,im supposed to be retiring shortly,my boss will be doing anything possible to keep me here(Oooh),but i could be training some of these boat people a wee skill while im here.
There are schemes to use overseas workers when theres a shortage,,,does your company not try those ynna?? I sthere zero unemployment near you... or are you not an attractive company to work for for locals??
