Ginger Plant
I am trying to grow a ginger plant from a piece of sprouting ginger root I bought from the supermarket.
So far there dont appear to be any roots, just one green shoot that doesnt seem to grow very much. I am of course keeping this indoors on a window sill and am watering it from the base. Any tips or advice on how to make this work, last time I tried it the root just rotted away.

I've just recently (October) started growing a shop bought piece of ginger.
This web site is extremely helpful;-

My plant is now over a foot tall, the leaves when crushed smell of ginger and I keep wanting to dig it up to see how it is doing.
According to the link, you are wise to keep it indoors if you live in the UK.
My user name there is randomgreenfingers, and I will soon post a picture of my plant, incidentally I'm not muslim but I don't think it matters.... Riz is soooo helpful. Check out the site, I love it.
