I am new to this site but within a week I find it seems to be overwhelmingly Scots and tory-based. Not that there's anything wrong with that but am I the only reader of the Indy, The Guardian & The Observer.

Maybe the Guardian/Independent/Observer readers are clever enough not to need this site!
I have the Express,Mail and Times and I struggle with all of them! I'm not Scottish or a tory..just a bit thick I guess :o)

OOps! That's the trouble with email. Tone of voice is so hard to get right. I apologise for any offence I have caused but not intended. I was trying, failing, to find some sympatico souls. I have nothing against Scots - my dad was a scot. I'm not a snob and you have all given me lots of help over the past week. I'm so sorry if I have offended any of you. You are my new found community.
I too am a Scot but definitely not a Tory; I read the Herald, Scotsman (plus the related Sundays) and the comic a.k.a. the Courier (and the St Andrews Citizen, but let's not go into that, as it doesn't have a crossword). I have noticed that the right-wingers tend to have better puzzles (the Herald 'Wee Stinker' being an honorable exception). Akin to the Devil having all the best tunes, from my point of view. Anyway, Zita-green, I hope you will bring another dimension to this site and make it more interesting for us all.
Hi zita - we've already met - like wallacia I am Scottish and would rather be found dead in a ditch than vote tory - I read the Herald, from which crossword you so quickly answered my post earlier today - however I take your point and agree - welcome aboard - they're a good bunch here - especially the Scots!!
Yes, indeed, welcome zita-green. I was joking about the clever readers of your chosen papers. I am a Leicester Mercury reader ( Yer what? do I hear people say?!) and dip into dailies at whim, going for any good crosswords or challenges.

Thank you Arran & Harry for your kind words. I hardly know what to say. Best keep it short & simple in future, eh?
re your reply zita-green,no offence taken, your post did not come over like that.

Thanks flicrat. My brother lives in Leicester. He's also a crossword fanatic.
Hi zita..........don't feel overwhelmed...........I'm english - but am also a tory..........
hi Zita and welcome :)

i'm neither tory nor scot, I only buy the papers for the crosswords (i actually cannot stand the Mail as a paper) an know my limits!
This site is very helpful though so I'm getting better all the time
Excellent. It's nice to know there are other enthusiasts around Leicester. However, I buck the trend for this city by being definitely Conservative and am alone on this site maybe??!! No apologies though.
no flicraft I am a conservative and buy the Mail
It's good to know that there are a variety of opinions and nationalities and we all get along well and help each other ( or try to help!)
I definitely fit the profile, both Scottish and Tory, I read The Telegraph, Scotsman and Times!
well i am irish so do irish quizzes
I'm a Guardian + Observer reader ...

Not for any reasons of ideology or editorial policy.

I just think they have the best writers ...

... and I like the Guardian crossword.
I'm (one of the?) token Americans, so I don't know what any of you are talking about!
