MM & KM Links January 2011 [Week 2/3]
19 Answers
This will be Week 2 for MM Links, but Week 3 for KM Links and we all anticipate yet another healthy contribution from Queen Christiana the Cheerful One. Last week, I congratulated teacher1 and roslyn251254 for their recent successes with the Spectator Crossword little realising that there was even more successes in the offing. Our very own ulysses100 landed last week’s prestigious Enigmatic Variations and someone called “crofter” was one of the runners up with the Spectator Christmas Double Crossword. The set of AB Linkers constitute quite a formidable group of crossword enthusiasts!

No best answer has yet been selected by crofter. Once a best answer has been selected, it will be shown here.
For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.This is the THIRD reign of Queen Christiana and so she becomes one of the most successful setters in the history of MM Linking. As usual she will follow the usual format, when the channel of communication should open on AB tomorrow at 08.45am and the four words to be linked should be posted at 9.00am. This is when MM Links kicks off in earnest and remember ~ early MM hits gain bonus points!
As usual, I ask that you should also look out for the international version of this same game which is called KM Links and kicks off at a very early hour (which is difficult to predict precisely). Consequently, the timing of your posting is deemed to be irrelevant ~ only the number of hits you are able to register. The regular organiser of KM Links comes all the way from Oz ( Roo-land) and is my good friend, “seekeerz”. She is truly the “Wizard-ess of Oz”.
“Why not chance your arm at both Link Games?” You have nothing to lose. Both games remain open for most of the weekend and all entries are scored and entered on to master scoreboards to trace progress through each monthly contest.
Until I see you tomorrow, may I wish you ~ “Happy Linking”!

Evening crofter and Pauline, and anyone else in the shrubbery; hope you've all had a good week. I had a teensy glitch with the new computer which I've now managed to sort out. (This will not please some of the contributors to the Technology section whose advice was to stop what I was trying to do and go for something else instead). In the end I did both - downloaded their suggestion and succeeded in answering my own question. Now I suppose they'll tell me that I've loaded the hard drive with stuff I don't need. Ah well.
I was downloading google earth onto my laptop last week. It didn't download properly and so I removed it and tried again a few days later. In the meantime a google 'end user licence' page came up and will not be deleted! It's like a ghost page that stays, with no cross at the top to exit it. I can still use the net, but it is there and I can't delete it!
Any ideas?...Shall I bury it in the shrubbery?

Good evening all.
Pauline, to delete Google Earth properly follow this link:

Yes, very well thanks Pauline, touch wood, as I trust that you and Reg are, although fed up with the rain (got a bit wet on the golf course this morning) but it is better than being housebound in the snow!
You've probably still got a bit of the program remaining, if you didn't delete it correctly. Maybe you need to delete your browsing history. Otherwise, Ctrl+Alt+Del, Computer Management (I think - can't check as I'm not using a Windows system) press the first 2 tabs and see if you can find it running there, highlight it and press delete. Please let me know what happens.

AB froze for a while just now!
Absolutely no idea on the tomorrows links. I just trust to luck. I wasn't even sure of them the month that I set them ;-))
As for the KM links, I'm usually still up when Steff lets us know the clues. Mrs. T always gets first crack at the GK Crossword and is amazed when I can answer any obscure shaded clue straight off, not knowing that I've already seen the clues and have got the answers hours earlier!!

Hi crofter. I have only just seen the real copy of the Spectator and turned to the crossword page, and let out a cry of delight when I recognised your name. Congratulations, sir. How nice to keep these prizes within the AB family ! I hope that it's not long before we can say the same thing again to another winner.
