The Club is now Open.

Good evening and welcome, everyone.

As the weather has been a little kinder to us of late, the clocks are due to change tonight and the Dark Blues have won the Boat Race, perhaps there is some truth to the rumour that Spring is on its way.
However, the nights are still a little nippy, so gather round our cosy hearth for another Club Night.

Drinks and nibbles will no doubt appear shortly and we can only hope that our trusty Matron will again excel herself with a new tailcock recipe. (Last week's amazing creation, the 'Lunar surprise@ lingers firmly in the memories and possibly also the livers of the members who attended last week.)

The raffle cupboard seems to be bare, so presumably all items were won last week...is this a record ?

Here are my donations for this week's raffle:

A packet of cheese and onion crisps . (Hardly flattened at all.)
A small tin of Mint Balls. (No, not Uncle Joe's, they're for the raffle)
A Fair Isle pattern mitt. (Right hand .)

Please feel free to add to them.

Good evening Milady, I have been very busy and the usual array of nibbles and tailcocks are all on the long hall dresser,my new concoction this week if the Census Comet## a most pleasing and all inclusive drink.

For the raffle I have knitted a dozen dishclothes.
I won't be staying long, ladyalex as I have family to feed etc but, maybe, Knittingrebel will be along later with a soggy hankie.
Hello goodbye Strix.

Hello, how lovely to see you again. A dozen dishcloths, you have been busy...are your needles still hot ?

I would definitely like a glass of Census Comet##. It sounds very agreeable and filling.
Yes it has form, there you are a nice tall glass.

Ttfn sends apologies.
Question Author
Hello, Strix. Delighted to see you , but sorry you are leaving so soon.

I don't think Knittingrebel will venture in here...we're far too cheerful for him/her.
Who is Knittingrebel? have they got the needle then?
Question Author
Good one, Mamya.

The tailcock is nice too.
Do you have anyone on hand, ladyalex, to count how many of mamya's census comets are drunk by a guest. I fear there may be a major liability issue here if a guest was to drink but one too many.

I am sure the poliz are there, waiting in the hedges of the high roads and by roads of our fine nation, ready to finger and enumerate the unsuspecting

A friendly lawyer's angle on this..........
Question Author
Knittingrebel annoyed Strix and me yesterday by asking too many questions.
He/she then lost the plot a bit.

Sorry, ladyalex, I must apologise for that contribution but I became really irritated yestereve by that interchange of remarks about the Generalist and the supposed reasons for the begging of answers to clues.
evening ma'am,i have brought a garden gnome
pkt of pretzels
some old bread to feed the ducks, for your raffle although i can never win.just going to sit by the inglenook and concentrate on my census comet.
'evening all, just back from the Kalahari with darling david A.brought along a rescued Elephant, well house trained
Question Author
Welcome to our club, DT etc etc....thank you for your wise counsel, but our members are all way beyond one too many ....we also have a....relationship...shall we say with all of our local emergency services.
Question Author
Strix..I was more than a little irritated also.
Presumably we are thought to button up the back.
Have had an incredibly spring-cleany sort of day and am in desperate need of a tailcock so thankyou for the offer.
During the rummaging associated with spring-cleaning I perchanced upon one of those windy-uppy gramophones and one (rather dusty) 78 rpm record! Would they be suitable for the raffle or maye we could have a stately perambulation of the great hall later (to music - albeit a trifle scratchy!)
Question Author
Oh so nice to see you both Kate and petals.

I'm not so sure of the elephant, though..we already have Ellie, you now and we don't want to get into a 'breeding ' situation now, do we ?

Hope you had a nice Burday, Kate!
Question Author
Oh, thank you so much, sackville. That grammyfone will go nicely in the hall...we may even have some old records that will fit it.
Dancing later, anyone ?
Where's Alexanderd when we need him.
Evening everyone, a glass of Census C would be most refreshing thank you.

I've bought along a Lemon and Lavender cake for the raffle; baked and iced this morning while the whites were in the boil wash.
well then, ladyalex, my contribution to the raffle tonight, forlorn as it is, is one blue light lifted off a Devon & Cornwall BMW belonging to some copper called Chief Superintendent Otter. I am County Finance Officer implementing the £30 million of cuts that he asked for.

One lucky winner's benefit as he/she (ttfn?) will be able to pretend to be a senior boy in blue.
