I would go with Dorothy Sayers as she created Lord Peter Wimsey (anag slim powdery tree) although they do seem to have missed the L.
An anagram of 'slim powdety tree' is 'Lord Peter Wimsey', who is the central figure of many of Dorothy Sayers' crime novels. It's quite okay to leave out her middle initial for the answer.
