Someone said in a previous thread:

/// "Heterosexual people have various partners and manage to bring up unconfused children". ///

Perhaps they should read this?

/// Absent fathers are a common factor among criminals, drug addicts, and self-harmers ///

Interesting. Does this apply to soldiers on tour as well, and all those children left fatherless in the post war good old days, or just the black people in the pictures?
Oh for goodness sake!! Have you never heard of step families? What about a widow that remarries?

Just because a couple with children split up doesn't mean the father is 'absent'

Surely the thrust of that article is the complete lack of *any* partner in the raising of the child/ren, rather than the presence of a male figure who is a step-father?

It also talks about a lack of 'any' males.

You quoted me in your OP and I'm a mother surrounded by male role models.

Single parents, Triggs.

It doesn't include you by the sounds of it because you're a single male parent.
Surely then it is the men to blame for not living up to their roles as fathers of their children?
I have a sneaking suspicion that there is also a 'separate' point which AOG is attempting to make by posting this.........
mmm do you think Jack?

I am sure its a black and white view about single parents and thats all!
Maybe he'll make his point clearer.
Extensive scientific studies have shown that the children of gay and lesbian couples are not disadvantaged by the sexuality of their parents.

From the abstract:
Many studies have demonstrated that children's well-being is affected much more by their relationships with their parents, their parents' sense of competence and security, and the presence of social and economic support for the family than by the gender or the sexual orientation of their parents.
I always knew ummmm was a criminal.
Does this not point towards keepoing families together - rather than deporting the father - as being a good thing?

I'm confused. I do hope AOG tidies up my absent minded fatherliness.
Not really. Heavy sarcasm implied, of course.
:-) Don't forget my kids....they are all criminals too.
Of course. How could I forget? :O
I wonder if I might be permitted to suggest a way to improve your efficiency AOG?

Once a day, you could link to the front page of the Mail and just post "Read this: I agree with all of it and it makes me angry".
Didn't notice it was an AOG post. All right, come clean, AOG. What is the dog whistle in this? The short answer is that children in truly broken homes are more likely than others to grow up delinquent. That they have only one parent constantly present is not decisive. How do you explain delinquent children from constantly two parent families?
How children turn out depends on so many things.

One good parent is better than two bad ones.

They need love, stability and security.....it doesn't matter who provides that be it a single mum, a single dad, a married couple, a same sex couple...
