Try Robert Crais and the 'Elvis Cole' novels. American but very 'fast paced'.
I love 'em, read every one of his books.

My wife likes James Patterson, but his new books are coming out so frequently that I'm beginning to suspect it's actually a team of writers!
Question Author
Heathfield-a lot of his newer books are written jointly with another. Not the same person i've noticed but must admit when JP writes the books solely they seem to be better written.
A couple of years ago I heard on the radio that JP was writing 27 new books at the one time.I can well believe it as there are many series's of what he writes but i'm sure he has a team behind him too
You might like Michael Connelly and his hero Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch & criminal defence attorney Mickey Haller.
Agree with granny grump, Michael Connelly is excellent. Reading "The reversal" at the moment where his characters, Bosch and Haller are working together.
Question Author
I've had a couple of Michael connelly's books already-City of Bones and Fifth Witness.Didn't think much of them to be honest.
I used to enjoy reading the 87th Precinct books by Ed McBain. Not sure if they'd still be available in the library.
Try Eye Contact by Fergus McNeill
Love Quintin Jardine's "Skinner" books - quite a few of them now, but if I remember rightly the first one was called Skinner's Rules. All set in Edinburgh.
Have you read Faye Kellerman's books?
Can also recommend Linwood Barclay.
Question Author
Thanks everyone for your answers, keep your suggestions coming in-can never have too many of them.Thanks.
Daisynonna-yes I've had 5 of Faye Kellerman's to date and apart from one-Capital Crimes i liked them all (Blood games,Blindman's Buff, Hangman, Ritual Bath).
Only had the one Linwood Barclay-Accident
Mo Hayder too if you like a little darkness in your life!
Kathy Reichs, who is the original author behind the "Bones" tv series take on her books. Saw the tv programme initially, but, the books are much darker and apart from the main character "temperance" sharing the name,it all ends there. Very detailed, dark, interesting and page turning! Completely authentic forensic crime!
If you like 'light' crime fiction (with an occasional hint at humour) try Smon Brett's books.
Question Author
I've tried a few of Kathy Reichs books but just got bored listening to them.Forensics is just not for me I guess.

On Simon Brett-yes have listened to him too ;0)
Ian Rankin, Peter Robinson, Peter James and Susan Hill are all pretty good IMHO.
