They'd probably be OK. But if they were mine and they'd only been in the cupboard a day I'd throw them out. I think they're dire.
Personally I would eat them if I liked them, which I don't. I agree with Sandy!
I like them and would eat them. They are quite salty and last well.

How many letters?
Much too salty! But the salt would certainly help to preserve them.
Since the anchovies have already been boned, cleaned and preserved in salt or oil and sold in cans, then the likelyhood of them going "off" after a few years in the cupboard are remote, as is some people's wish to taste them, but they'l be "perfectly edible", but just not for my consumption THANKS. :-)
Love them! They will be fine. Make Spaghetti Aglio Olio. Boil up some spaghetti, fry olive oil, garlic and chilli, stir in some anchovies and stir through the hot spaghetti.....yum!
And those of you who dont like tinned anvovies, have you tried fresh anchovies? They are completely different. Really delicious!
Oooh love them too grasscarp. Deeeeeeelish :)
No, I haven't tried fresh anchovies. Do they sell them in Tesco, or Waitrose? We haven't got a fresh fish seller round here, but I know they have a small fish section in Tesco.
The section is small not the fishes!
I did find them in one Tesco, but only one! Maybe if you ask they could get some for you. I very rarely locate any.
They will be perfectly fine, when doing a leg or shoulder of lamb, make slits and pop slivers of anchovies in - it enhances the meat flavour and no hint of a fishy taste at all.
Check the 'use by' date on the tin
