I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid a few years ago, after feel ill for no apparent reason, couldn't put my finger on what was wrong. My arm and leg muscles ached, going upstairs was a nightmare. I was also cold all the time. I didn't put up with it for long though, I went to the doctor and was diagnosed put on tablets and never looked back.
If you've been diagnosed and put on thyroxine then the aches should go. If you've got them in spite of the tablets, then please go back to your doctor for help.
Your thyroid will be tested initially after 6 months to see if the dose is correct, then every twelve months. remember that other symptoms could be hard skin on your feet, the aches and pains in joints and erratic weight. I have been on thyroxin since I was 28 and I am 49 now, if you take it as you should all will be fine. I have an allergy to penicillin and allergies to certain perfumes and cosmetic products too. The TV presenter that presents one of the holiday shows, A place in the sun? has the same problem and has done press interviews on it.
