hi folks a recent quiz question cropped up at the local pub quiz last week can anyone give me the answer and a simple way of getting it ....... how many different combinations are there of scoring if all three darts score ?

I don't think prudie;s answer is right, at least partly on the somewhat shaky grounds that no-one can be expected to know that number off the top of their head, and you shouldn't be able to use a calculator in a pub quiz...
More to the point, it's an overcounting, eg getting a 20, 20, 19 is the same from the combinations point of view as getting a 19 then a 20 then another 20. To sort out that overcounting is certainly beyond the range of any pub quiz.
So I think the question is probably, "what are the possible total scores from throwing three darts, all of which score at least one point?" In which case the answer is 180 minus a few (since the max possible score is 180, but not all totals below 180 are possible).
