Too often you find castings for generic roles in things that could be played by a white person or a BAME person, a gay character or a straight character, a man or a woman without any of those factors impacting on the plot whatsoever yet they are specified for white males between 25-35. The industry recognises this and is trying to act upon it, it's not merely being politically correct for the sake of it, although nice to see that black lesbian females can be held as positive role models for kids, it's actually because there is a massive employment problem in our industry for BAME actors.
