Me and the OH have had a tough 6 months. And now its official and we are going to have a holiday (very excited).

Date of travel - late September, early October
Hotel requirements: Very upmarket and no kids (min 4*)
Weather requirements: Hot but not blistering
Location: Dont care. Want sun, a little beach but need stuff to see - neither of us can sit on a beach and do sod all
Activities: Both love wildlife, birds, sealife (snorkelling OK, not sure I can do SCUBA), architecture, flora and fauna. He particularly likes marine fish/things. Dont want anything too energetic (we are of a certain age)!
Food: Me, I'll eat anything; him, wont eat chillis or pasta (so I guess that rules out Italy)
Budget: Not stupid money, but we will pay a couple of grand each for the right holibobs

Me: I reckon Malta. Him: Gran Canaria. Safari has been ruled out.

Ideas please..........personal recommendations appreciated.

//you lot do know that if BM and her OH go to a recommended destination, the winner gets to babysit Asbo? // What's more frightening is if BM and OH goes to a recommended location and it turns out they don't like it . Think of the grief that the recommender will have to suffer on here , not to mention the litigation . You know these lawyer types :-)

I think Malta would really suit you.

Have you looked at Croatia?

I am still plugging for Malta, Ummm, but I did say I would seek out other destinations.

Didnt even consider Croatia, will have a look.

Now, who fancies babysitting ASBO..........
Florida?
Croatia looks stunning.
'Now, who fancies babysitting ASBO..........'

would hate to suggest to the learned lady that you got in too quick with that threa.. invitation :-)

One of the Greek Isles maybe?
Have loved both Toledo and Bordeaux and the Algarve before it became touristy.
North Cyprus? It's less touristy than the south, has good hotels and restaurants and lots to see and do.
Further afield but Mauritius ticks all those boxes.
How long will you be going for?

Some nice ideas, but as you will see, we are difficult to please.

I'm not keen on Florida. Probably because my best friend went there and hated it. He went to Mauritius last year and was unimpressed.

North Cyprus looks like a goer right now, as is Croatia. I am starting to think in terms of Caribbean cruise.

If it helps your counter argument as a keen snorkeller myself Gran Canaria and the rest of the Canaries are prettty pants from the fish point of view - the sea is Atlantic, rolling and not that clear like the Med is so snorkelling is very limited. Best I know of is going on whale watching trips but that's about all. Plus it's a bit chavvy for you :-)
I knew you'd say that, Jordy :-)
Special eh?
Where would i take Barmaid?

Pay a bit extra for a suite on the 33rd floor.....Club suite.
Do it properly or not at all.
Late October could be perfect.

I agree with Sqad. Barcelona is wonderful, weather probably very pleasant, but I wouldn't count on it being warm enough to swim in the sea.
Thailand .
Barcelona, yep, excellent.
Palachora Crete google it I guarantee you will have a great time blue flag beaches and crystal clear water lovely food and lots of RAKI we are going for 6 weeks September/October
Barmaid, We had a long w/e in Split earlier this year. It's very interesting and this hotel sounds quite 'you':

I haven't been but a FB friend lives there and it looks gorgeous.
Tavira, Algarve
