We had a good day. Lunch was fine, beef and pork carvery with lots of vegetables and an assortment of desserts.
I didn't do too bad on the races.
I had 2 winners, 1 second and 2 thirds, and 2 also fans. I ended up £16 pounds up on the day.

Chris, you didn't do very well.
You had 1 winner Senior Citizen,
The rest were all unplaced, 5, 6, 13, 15 and a faller.

I'm pleased that you had a good day, Caran, but I'll remind you that I only selected those nags based upon their names. I might possibly have done a little bit better if I'd actually looked at their form!

Anyway, I'm sure that we can all have a whip round to contribute to the costs of your bankruptcy petition ;-)
Glad you enjoyed yourself.

Reminder of original for those who didn't see it.

Hang on, I've just re-read your post!

You made a profit?

Perhaps you should go into business as a tipster?
Well done, Caran. £16 up ( I'll have a whiskey then, please ).
Glad you had a good day, well done for being up £16.
Well done its just a nice little lift when you come away ahead.

I know you only did it on names Chris, I was being facetious!
Well at least you've helped me solve a mystery. I've often wondered what Jim360's avatar is all about:

Now you've explained it:

I hadn't noticed the error, blame predictive text.
Had to look for Senior Citizen, Caran, to see which meeting you'd gone to. Pity it wasn't the meeting at Bangor, then instead of, "We had a good day", you could have begun your thread, "Didn't we have a lovely time the day we went to Bangor." :-) Never mind, next time, eh? And well done on the profit. A good day at the races is when you break even, so you had an excellent day.
Any tips for the Melbourne Cup ( next Tuesday ) ??

Thank you Ken4155, I also backed Senior Citizen. It was a very good day. Not done one like it before.
I was intrigued by some of the people there. A lot of men in dark three piece suits with a black hat looking like men from the mafia!
Pick a name that you like, Steff.
A lot of runners isn't there, is it like our grand national ?.

Best Solution seems to be an appropriate name for those of us who like to get 'Best Answers' here on AB. A few dollars each way might be worth a flutter!
It's called the race that stops a nation, tonyav, but just under 2 miles on the level cannot possibly compete with our Grand National. At least, not in my very humble opinion. It is, however, as tricky a race to predict. A female pilot won it a few years back on a 100/1 so-called no hoper.
Thanks Ken.
Also, tony, the number of runners in your link will be whittled down to a slightly more manageable maximum of 24 when the final card is announced. Which i believe is usually the Saturday before the race - i.e. this coming Saturday.
