Hurty swollen knee is coming up for 3 years ago now. it turned out to be a hamstring spasm brought on by a cartilage tear and probably a loose bit floating around in the joint.
Physio gave me very painful deep stretching and ultrasound plus 3 times daily stretching exercises. ....took about six months and 3 visits to fix but its now as good as I can expect given my general age and level of unfitness...as i said the only thing I do reluctantly is get down onto the floor.

hmmm? I made a comment to Dolly in my post but it's not there...I must have chopped it orf. I type on notepad & copy it unless it's only one or two sentences - which doesn't happen often does it? - (shuttit Vinny)
anyway in a nutshell it was something like..
That sounds like quite a celebration Dolly, hope you're still talking about it in another 10 years!

sounds like cartilage to me. Cartilage shock absorbs your knee joint but also stabilises it

one of the things with ageing is that the cartilage gets less rubbery and stretchy...more likely to tear than give.

Daughter's just phoned on her way to work, there's a huge fire on one of the hillsides, she thought it was the cemetery where my mother is interred (in a wall not the ground- horrid) but it appears not to be, so the traffic is being diverted to other parts of the island, she'll never get to work, but she's told them. Lucky she wasn't on the bus (which I wanted her to do cos I wanted to go to the cemetery) or she'd have been boiling and it would be awful. Just one ciggy but or a spark from an BBQ sets of the whole fire thing, which is why BBQ's without chimnies are illegal!
I had a touch of that veering to the left a couple of years ago. the doc sent me to "Strange ailments dept" of the hospital but they didn't have a clue, it was scary as I'd be walking along the main bypass with Mr N and would veer off into the road, so always had to grab his arm, couldn't stop myself. My sister thought it was hilarious that year when I was in Eastbourne, even in the shops I'd go off to the left, always the left. I could feel myself doing it, but couldn't stop and I'd have to shout to her, I'm wobbling" and she'd come back and straighten m out. I put it down to madness!!!! Not sure but I think my head felt fuzzy!
Hi, I am here digesting your posts. Am having a funny day today. One of those over anxious days when I tire myself out just getting worried and then have to sleep. Setting my mind on something and doing it always helps, but I haven't got the physical or mental strength today to do it. Believe it or not, when I feel like this even washing and dressing is a huge effort. Can't exactly explain how I feel, but I get really cross with myself about it.
lol neti
I know what you mean lottie, I call them impending doom days...haha...I have several.
I've not had a very productive day either but if any of you coastal dwellers see one of these bobbing by, it's mine. I just let go of it when I was cleaning the loo & it disappeared over the bend (I squirt some limescale remover down for an hour, quick wipe round with one of those & hey presto, scale gone)

Ouch, my knee is rerally painful now, have googled and it's not Housemaids knee, cos the swelling is below the kneecap and to the south east. If stll bad tomorrow I'll make an appointment.

Oh dear Robi, I do hope that sponge is biodegradable or the Green peace will be on to you!!
