Christmas Is Nearly Over :(

I finished up the last of the Quality Street last night :(

I've opened the last tin of M&S Belgian Biscuits tonight :(

I'm now into the final bottle of the wine that I bought for the Christmas period :(

Have you got any Christmas stuff left?

I actually threw away about 12 quality street chocs this afternoon as no-one liked what was left. I have 2 bottles of chocolate Baileys unopened, a bag of choc covered nuts, 1/2 box of Lindt chocs, unopened box of heroes, a mini Xmas pud. Some mince pies and stollen that are past sell by and slowly being given to the birds. Shocking really.

When I were but a nipper, Canary42, my Dad would always buy a rooted tree and then put it out in the garden after Christmas.  Throughout the whole of my childhood I think that he only ever needed to buy just two or three trees in total.  (People thought it odd then but now Old Charlie Boy has got everyone doing it!).

 

Those individual Christmas puddings never last long in my house, Hazlinny.  (I did bin several mini jars of chutney, etc, some time last year, which had been part of a Christmas gift from many years ago!).

 

You has some Stollen left over, Prudie?  You should have invited me round.  I can't get enough of the stuff!  (I could have helped you with Christmas pud too!).

No.  Most of it was gone before Christmas.

Apart from the Christmas cake, which I never got round to icing.

My problem is, Barmaid, that I won't touch anything that I've bought for Christmas before the big day, because I don't want to end up eating/drinking it all too early.  (I only make an exception for mince pies).  Some, come 25th December, I've suddenly got masses of food and drink to try to wade through.

Some pickled cabbage,onions and a few bottles of Rum and Baileys A couple of home cooked ready meals of Frozen Turkey curry and Cranberry Sauce.

Yep, that's me Chris!!   We did Christmas obviously when ours on  was young.   Then I realised that Christmas was nothing but stress and expense and we really  didn't enjoy it.

I don't really 'do' Christmas in many ways, Lottie, but I still like to go through the motions all the same!

I had about 2/3 of box of quality street left. I had a couple. They all taste the same these days. I threw them out. Nobody wanted them. Also a box of mince pies, I had to throw away, as they were out of date.

Lamb steak with sprouts and bacon bits, accompanied by a port and brandy or two.  If you can find yourself some roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and gravy, I reckon that you've got the makings of quite a nice meal there, David ;-)
