“The NHS is at a fork in the road, and we have a choice about how it should meet these rising demands: raise taxes on working people to meet the ever-higher costs of an ageing population – or reform to secure its future. We know working people can’t afford to pay more, so it’s reform or die.”
So that rules out raising money through tax and therefore throwing money at it.... unless there's another option of raising money from those who don't work like pensioners, inheritance tax, motorists, CGT, wealth tax, savings tax etc
Talking is easy, nicebloke. You can't argue with things like 'make better use of technology', ' shift more care from hospitals to communities' and ' move from sickness to prevention'. All sound great, but it's actually doing it, without investing more money, that's the difficult part. There have been Reforms for as long as I can remmeber but the outcomes have always been disappointing.
At least he's got what it takes to say how it is and what needs doing instead of ignoring it. AND, many many posters on here have done nothing but complain about how much money has been thrown at the NHS to no affect, now, you are complaining that there are no funds forth coming. Joke or what. Get ready for a REAL shake up by REAL PM.
Nicebloke1. If you think that Starmer is a real PM, I have a property on the north side of the River Thames, which is surrounded by high walls and even has its on guards. It was bequethed to me by a very distant relation. If you buy that I will throw in a nice bridge which opens and closes. Make me an offer.
