It's Friday night and I feel fine.
I've had my pizza and goblet(s) of wine.
Now send the message 'cross hill and glade
It's time to muster the shrubbery brigade.
Are y'ready t'do battle with thorn and hedge
And beat the Wards (both Pauline and Reg).
If you are covered in smears of marmite
Then you must have met with the awesome samurite.
But you must go armed with sword and gun
If you plan to take on the sharp-tongued Dustybun;
And approach with utmost humility
The one called Aquagility!
There's the Hewats, burgess and (of course) cliffyg,
And our in-house solicitor who's called FoxLee.
Don't forget Christiana and Shaneystar2
And Gremus and chriss ~ to name but a few!
The field is global, I say that because
We have Steff all the way from Oz.
And come prepared to dish the dirt
With our Canadian couple (Joan and Bert)
Play if you dare - it's an addictive habit
You could end up like rogerrabbit!
We need sharp brains, we want no fools
You'll pit your wits against Jim & Jools!
But there's one whose powers yet unsung ~
The one that they call "wicked tongue".
Speak his name and every heart sinks
For he is the ONE that sets the links!
Apologies to anyone I've missed, but the red wine is starting to kick in!
LaneyB ~ you asked how long we've been this mad!

The forms of things unknown, the poet's pen
Turns them to shapes and give to airy nothing
A local habitation and a name.
So for those of you who, like ourselves, often wondered why the 'Shrubbery.' There's the answer.
Our resident Poet Laureate known to us as Crofter gave to airy nothing a shape and a name - and Viola!!!!! A shrubbery.
But I worry about the lad. There's such a fine line between genius and madness is there not? Methinks the madness is winning.
PS. Just saw a couple of men in white coats catch an Air Canada flight to UK. They were mumbling something about a mad professor.

Hey sarumite - weren't you in "Duck Soup"?
crofter - I'm surprised AB Ed let your last posting through!! Thank you for your poetic reference - I've never had a bit of a pome writ about me before!!
Off to the shrubbery now with my Mushy Peas and Roquefort sandwiches and flask of Hot Chocolate. Sleep well everyone and good luck for tomorrow. (What is it we're supposed to be doing tomorrow? Some sort of game or something....?)

Oh dear Sarumite
What a really scarey sight
You gave me such an awful fright
I'm scared to go to sleep tonight!!!!!!
Now Crofter you naughty so and so
You mentioned Burgess (my big bro)
But what about much younger Evsajo ?
Just listen as my tears flow.
OK it was a pretty bad rhyme but it is 12.15am.The next line to your song Crofter is "where life is beautiful all the time"
I didn't win "Name that Tune" for nothing !!! Also poor Burgess is ill (a touch of man flu) so I may not see him tommorrow and I haven't seen him since his return from Yorkshire so I hope he has ditched the pith helmet etc.
By the way good evening to anyone still awake and will no doubt see you tommorrow as we struggle to solve wickedtongues linkwords best wishes Evsajo

I'm half way between scared out of my skin - please tell me sarumite doesn't really look like that, and utterly amazed at the lyrical efforts of our esteemed leader - after that much red wine, I'm lucky to be able to say my own name
well it's time to head for the second clump of shrubbery - and see what awaits us there. S
