We were lucky discovering this hotel in Chester, a few months after my sight problem began - just over eleven years ago. I had to give up driving our Motorbility car, which was ideal for getting us around town and also enabled us to go further afield for the odd weekend away. We now rely on taxis and trains. We would be stumped without them. Merseyrail provides ramps and assistance at each station we use. For our journey from Ormskirk via Liverpool to Chester, the ramp is always ready, opposite the disabled entry to the train as it arrives at the station. Excellent service!
We have used this hotel for many years now, so everyone knows us and we are greeted with warm and friendly welcome: 'Hello, Mr & Mrs Sumner. Nice to see you again'. I'm a member of the hotel's loyalty scheme, so registration is simply a signature. When we get to our room, specially designed for the disabled, we get a meal sent up from Room Service. Vi likes coming to Chester for the shopping, which is virtually on the doorstep. I come for the food!! The restaurant serves wonderful food and wines. Who once said The way to a mans heart is through his stomach?
Enough of this parting is such sweet sorrow. I have really enjoyed my time setting the links and I'm really looking forward to seeing who I'll pass the baton on to on Sunday. There are several contenders in the frame. Mark my words!
