Welcome to this third week in the reign of Princess Pauline. This month is slipping by at a rate of knots, and what a memorable month it has been. After two years scoring the MM Links Game, I finally got to meet up with some of the "shakers and movers". Pauline, Kay (evsajo) and LaneyB reminded me of theMikado's "Three Little Maids from School".
You may need reminding of the lyrics:
"Three little maids from school are we Pert as a school-girl well can be Filled to the brim with girlish glee Three little maids from school
Everything is a source of fun Nobody's safe, for we care for none Life is a joke that's just begun Three little maids from school"
The only phrase I would disagree with is that "they care for everyone"!
The three others, sarumite, gen2 and myself, crofter, were relatively subdued in the presence of the recycled teenagers! One thing for sure, the Fellowship of the Linkers was tangible and has grown strong over the last two years of networking and mutual support.
Well Crofter what can I say to that lot - after what Evasjo called me?!!!
Glad you and Val got home safely, we had a grand time and great to meet everyone. We didn't manage to get any links from the Princess she kept everything very close to her chest!
Although we did manage to sink a drink or two (or three!!)
I don't envy you Pauline having to get up in the middle of the night. I'll have your drink tonight!
Just popped in to say how sorry I was that I couldn't be there at the weekend--would so loved to have met you all--especially him with the deep brown voice--you know who I mean!!
Lots of love
Barbara
Jan...we do have a couple of those wine stopper things, but they are always in the cupboard!!
Laney...Laura offered to hop in a taxi home, but I have missed her, and can't wait to go and collect her....also I wanted to make sure she got the flight home!!!
I think it's great to see somebody there for you after a long flight home.
Your father's not too happy at that Kay!!!!!
I agree Pauline, it is nice to see someone waiting to greet you when you come through customs. I'm sure she will be on this flight she wouldn't to that again!!
Jan with the size of Pauline's glasses she would never need one of those stopper things one bottle will fill two glasses!!
well, gen2, there are, even now, only 5,800 people at St A's including post-graduates as well as staff and, yes, the undergruates (bejants etc) still have to own one of the red gowns.
I went to Newcastle University in the early 60's and we, too, had to have Undergraduate gowns.
As to cars, talking to a friend the other day, we reckon only 2 to 3 dozen of us owned cars out a student population somewhat larger than that when you were at St A.
Is my Father upset because it didn't mention him???
Hi Pauline, does this mean i don't get my usual 1am phone call??? Isn't it quiet when we're not together?
Strix just watch out for this
I am getting worried about you Shrubbers, I supply the music (well some of it) but where has all the nosh and booze gone. Where are the drinkers and imbibers, have all the bats taken flight to diferrent zones, are the azaleas and rhodendrons uninhabited, are the caves devoid of hanging folk.
They can't, surely, still be locked into a cellar in Stockport, can they?
thats nothing strix, you should see me coming home from work, the shopping I get on my bike!
it's get out of the way mad woman coming through
when I walk out of the store with a loaded trolly staff say "you are not on your bike are you?"
they cannot believe I will fit all the shopping on but I always do
did you know I own the cycle paths when I am on them?
Hi Sarumite, glad you arrived home safely.i think Strix will be glad to see you, he's been a bit outnumbered!!!
Bye Pauline, have a safe journey to fetch Laura. hope she's had a good holiday
