Tomorrow morning brings the start of Round 2 in the Reign of King Wickedtongue the Generous during which I believe the points will flow [as last week] in ample numbers. Once again, the (Para)Olympics are well underway and I am filled with admiration for the competitors. Their endeavours have inspired me to embark on my next DIY project and decorate the third bedroom in the Croft. This will be my first return to DIY in over three years ~ so wish me well!

With the excessive amount of rain and mud about, I wonder if there will ever be an Olympic Sport of Extreme Shrubbery Mud Wrestling. Tonight will be cold and wet around the Buddleias, but I have every faith that the Shrubbery Squad will brave the elements and contend for the bonus points for being first (or within two minutes) to predict a correct link word. This contest should be opened at 08.45 and the chosen words to be linked declared at 09.00 tomorrow morning. I honestly think that the extra effort will be worth it!

For the REALLY early birds, look out for seekeerz who hails from Down Under in the Land of Oz and volunteered about two years ago to score the sister game (called KM Links) which will be nearly two hours old by the MM launch time! Yes, that's right ~ the KM Links Game kicks off about 07.00am and attracts its special set of nutters, alcoholics and insomniacs in equal numbers!

Me? I'm crofter keeper of the scores for MM Links for my sins.

With a couple of entrants already on 6 points, you cannot afford to miss the start of Link Game. Newcomers are always welcome. You don't have to be insane ~ but it is a definite advantage!

Good luck for tomorrow.

Sorry about that last picture - pasted the wrong one. it will have to be gin and tonic again.
actually the drinks should be on me
I had to walk home last night from work as my chain on my bike hade broke so i was feeling a bit fed up but there at my back door were 3 bottles of champagne from 3 different competitions so that cheered me up a bit
Ah...Strix hasn't gone anywhere yet!!!
Wow Jan!!!....get them opened!!!
Evening Strix - went through St Andrews on the way up to Stonehaven the other week. We went up on the train from Kings Cross
twix....she has taken a Laundry bag with her....with handles on to carry home when full! I pointed the Laundry room out to her...but she said she wouldn't need it!!!
twix, you are right but we had a choice of 3 Universities who had accepted her, two of which were within an hour and a half from home. A friend warned me of the problems with his offspring with proximity in that they tended to come home with all their mates as well as their washing and wanting housing and feeding. Thus, at the distance she is away will not pose that immediate problem.
As to the cost, yup - total agreement. We have been broke for years and with a 12 yr at boarding school will remain so for a very long time.
Only consolation is that a year at University i.e. tuition fees + catered accommodation (given government non-repayable maintenance allowance is extra) is LESS than one term at private school!
Blimey Strix....thought we had it bad!!! :-))
Hello, just got cleaned up from my earlier mud wrestling!!!! Really have had surprise visitors, my sister in law and brother in law and they have just gone home.
haven't had any tea yet so woll just go and refresh a delicious (not) gluten free baguette which I defrosted earlier.
Back soon, so let's have some good music for my digestion!!!
This all seems a different world to me...our eldest 2 have Special Needs...and we have always tried to encourage the youngest without 'pushing' her....and I feel I am living in a different world right now altogether!

Can only hope she makes the most of it...and support her all we can.

You are going great guns Strix!

It will be jam butties and Cider in the Srubbery for the next few years...and we are passing round the begging bowl!!!
My son went to uni only an hour away by road so we saw a lot of him, but his third year was well out of the way in Toulouse therefore we had peace and quiet at home...... but when we stayed out there for a week we had to go out and buy new tea towels etc, which looked as if they hadn't been washed for the previous 6 months! The bedding didn't look much better either, so we moved into a local hotel instead - I don't think he knew what a washing machine was!
I think the kids attitude is usually:

Kay, I heard that you were now free of mud as over the airways I heard this refrain (the spelling has nothing to do with me,nor the size of the animals with you!):

not sure my situation with 2 sons is any better, the eldest is a qualified electrician and on Sunday will be at Licoln uni waiting for all the little jobs that need doing with the new interns. He has 2 children and we are constantly helping them with loans that never come back or food, or clothes for the grandchildren. The other son is an accountant but still at home so lives relitively cheaply,
Not sure when we will be able to call either our house just ours or our money ours either!
shall have to keep working
the 60 from the government this week helped a bit!
twix...that doesn't surprise me...I think that's lads for you...even if they are at home!! Good song!!

Strix!!!.....Kay is far worse than that when she gets going! I've seen her!!!
Jan...you never stop being a parent do you?

Yet I don't remember this level of support when I was growing up!!! :-(
Pauline, let us hear Kay deny it!

Sorry, prove it!
What do you mean Pauline????
I am a quiet well behaved person at all times.
me neither Pauline, we often say this ourselves. We child mind for them when daughter in law is at work, I knitted on a machine aroung the kids to bring in extra income, we also did phone books and yellow pages again around the kids as nobody would look after them if I worked out of the house. Now the married son just turns up and raids the freezer I keep saying you go to Sainsburys and give them money and they give you food but he says he doesn't have to queue here!
Strix...I just wish I could post pics on here!!!
...and as you know Strix...I keep telling you all...I am a good Catholic girl...and do not lie!!!
