Tomorrow morning brings the start of Round 2 in the Reign of King Wickedtongue the Generous during which I believe the points will flow [as last week] in ample numbers. Once again, the (Para)Olympics are well underway and I am filled with admiration for the competitors. Their endeavours have inspired me to embark on my next DIY project and decorate the third bedroom in the Croft. This will be my first return to DIY in over three years ~ so wish me well!
With the excessive amount of rain and mud about, I wonder if there will ever be an Olympic Sport of Extreme Shrubbery Mud Wrestling. Tonight will be cold and wet around the Buddleias, but I have every faith that the Shrubbery Squad will brave the elements and contend for the bonus points for being first (or within two minutes) to predict a correct link word. This contest should be opened at 08.45 and the chosen words to be linked declared at 09.00 tomorrow morning. I honestly think that the extra effort will be worth it!
For the REALLY early birds, look out for seekeerz who hails from Down Under in the Land of Oz and volunteered about two years ago to score the sister game (called KM Links) which will be nearly two hours old by the MM launch time! Yes, that's right ~ the KM Links Game kicks off about 07.00am and attracts its special set of nutters, alcoholics and insomniacs in equal numbers!
Me? I'm crofter keeper of the scores for MM Links for my sins.
With a couple of entrants already on 6 points, you cannot afford to miss the start of Link Game. Newcomers are always welcome. You don't have to be insane ~ but it is a definite advantage!
Ah yes Kay...but I went on a Pilgrimage to Lourdes with OUR church...to help out!!! ....Beat that!!!!...at my expense!!
Mind you...I did share a room with a Cancer Patient...who I did get drunk and was too ill to receive Holy Communion the next morning...they asked her if she needed a Doctor...and she said No thanks...just another night with Pauline!! Whoops!!!
Kay, I do occasionally read the News of the World as well as the Sun "newspaper" so, sadly, Kay I cannot therefore automatically accept that a floating trip with a man of the cloth was above board. I do accept, on your word, that you are good.......
Now we know even Strix is 'dodgy'...he referred to the Sun and the News of The World in the same sentence as the word 'newspaper'...even if he did hyphenate it!....:-)))
All this talk of kids makes me feel old. We had 4 boys who between them have produced 8 grandchildren for us.
Hardly a week goes by without one of them having a birthday.........oh well that's life
And for all you good catholic girls (and before you all shoot me down my wife, her sister, and my daughter {who was head girl there] all went to a RC convent school) here is Tom Lehrer. It was written/composed in the 1960's when Rome changed the liturgy; Anyway enjoy and laugh:
Oh dear can't think of any reply Strix......if I say he was good.....well, I think I had better not say anything except his wife and my daughter and granddaughter were there too and I had bid for the trip in a church auction. (So I paid for it Pauline!!!)
You were obviously the 2nd on the right who had to jump up with her/his board!!
Strix I cannot deny what Pauline said, I have never grown up and don't think I will, much to my childrens dismay, but my grandchildren's delight.
I am not like your normal run of the mill type grandma at all!!!!
Pauline am honestly not playing Scrabulous on Facebook as Mattel have banned them from using it so last week in the middle of a game it just disappeared!!!!
Nicky and I are playing Scrabble by email, but she has gone to Southampton with the boys for the weekend as Stu is on a stand at the Boat show there, and is away for 2 weeks. I am really lost without my Scrabble!!!
