I have it on good authority that during this, his last week King Ulysses the Valiant will be "tip-toeing through the tulips" somewhere in Norfolk ~ setting off very early tomorrow morning. He has left behind his preamble and link words for me to do the honours in his absence and not even Pauline herself could guess at this stage what he has to say. After two years of organising MM Links, I have never met a history to match that of King Ulysses. His success over the years with difficult cryptic crosswords and his botanical expertise just mark the beginning of his surprises!
Friday night in the Croft is usually Italian Night, when the red wine flows like the Tiber (or like Tizer?). I am composing this text over two hours in advance, while I can still focus on the keyboard! I only hope that I can make it tomorrow in time for my launch of the MM Links posting on AnswerBank at 8.45am with the four chosen words to be linked (pre-selected by King Ulysses) being declared at 9.00am. Don't forget that this week is the decider in order to dish out honours for the month of October and (at present) recent ex-champion, Dinkypuzzled, is in the lead. More details tomorrow morning!
I'm never up early enough to get a bonus point....unless someone posts the links before 3:00 a.m. I can remember buying the morning papers at 2:00 a.m. at the old Cromwell Road Air Terminal in the days when BEA used to fly into Heathrow until after midnight and the first flight would leave about 6:00 in the morning.....I suppose I could steal a march by going to the printers at Wapping!
Well have just come back from an errand of mercy. Phone rang at 9pm and it was a friend who had an operation on his shoulder this morning. He was just going to bed when he realized there was blood running down his arm!!!!! As he can't drive for a week he phoned me and asked me to take him to the hospital;
We had to wait an hour and the nurse then re dressed it and said she hoped it would stop bleeding but if it started again in the night to go back.
As I am his only contact in Lichfield it will be me he has to ring, although he says he will leave it until the morning!!!!
Have just got in so have missed the chat, hope you have missed me!!!!!!
Good evening Dustybun (hey I got it right I think!!)
I like it, but I don't think that they flew into Heathrow, or Great Western Aerodrome as was, and I'm sure that Pauline would only fly with Lancashire Airways!!
