Struggling with the last few can anyone help please.
52 Early Christian dissenter made alternative costing (7)
83 We hear religious Indian is related to Hyde (4)
88 Point to supply of water at minster (9)
72 Broad row erupts at times with ham (7)
I'm told there is an error in the number of letters at 15, could there be a similar error at 80 or have I got the answer wrong?
88. Point of the compass plus where you get water from.
There's a cathedral (minster) with this name, but it's
pronounced differently from the way it reads.
As for 72, it's a town. Broad relates to The Broads, and 'erupts' indicates an anagram.
Each answer contains a "silent" letter. This, aside from any other logic, tells us that 24 should be entered as "who" not "Hoo", as the latter has no "silent" letter.
There is no silent letter in "gene". What logic gives "gene" from "8836"? What does "8836" signify?? I am still mystified by this one.
Hi all, can anyone help with these five?
8.) Mount or region, say
13.) Withdrawal I take out to see what is owed.
18.) 8836
30.) Man, perhaps, I shall shortly hear
59.) Seaweed for torture
Is 8836 in the wrong part of the quiz, should it be later on?
I've only got q18 to go - I'm not happy with someone's proposed answer of GENE - I wouldn't say that it had a sileent letter and also I can't see how it relates to the clue.
any ideas?
ps I'm not that happy with my answer to the one near the end (ninety something) re the TUBE DIAMETER... (4,7)
