MM & KM Links April 2009 [Week 3]
48 Answers
We are coming up to Week 3 in the reign of Baron Brian and things could hardly have gone better. The launchings have been so smooth and the scoring has been brisk, to say the least. If my memory serves me well, I may have intimated that this would be a five-week month ~ and of course that is not so! There are only FOUR weekends in April and Baron Brian's days are numbered.

I know that I will have to take time off to visit Mum on mid-week trips in the near future. Her health is poor and deteriorating. My origins are really based firmly in the NE in a small village (given by Q22 in the Dragonfly IV Quiz). I do hope that this latest quiz is living up to the same high standards as the first three ~ and providing the correct balance between enjoyment and exasperation!
I look forward to seeing you all ready and waiting for the new challenge when the launch opens at 08.45 tomorrow, before the MM link words are disclosed at 09.00 (sharp). There has always been a rush of early entrants in the opening five minutes of play ~ and many bonus points are picked off during this vital period!
You need also to look out for the sister game (called KM Links) that kicks off in the early hours of Saturday depending on whoever is first to solve the Herculis Crossword in The Daily Telegraph! It has been decided recently to adjust the scoring system here, so that it is NOT time sensitive. This version of the Links game attracts many entries and scores can be much higher. That truly international version of the Links Game is watched over by the Hostess with the Mostest in the form of seekeerz (from the Land of Oz). She takes responsibility for keeping law and order, and seeing that fair play prevails. She will process each prediction and maintain the League Table for the KM Links.
Me? Im crofter keeper of the scores for MM Links for my sins and I process the predictions and maintain the League Tables for the parallel game.
Good luck for tomorrow, when you will have to tune into another round to take up the challenge of this latest setter, Baron Brian.

Hi Pauline,
We had a good day but the evening was a bit of a fiasco. I had booked a table at a restaurant, but when we arrived the place was in darkness - they had a power cut and didn't bother to ring their customers:-(( We went home instead, via a takeaway, Mrs. T to watch The Apprentice and me to watch the football!

What a shame twix! I hope they offered you another night...free!!
Puts me in mind of our Wedding Night...well sort of! Reg got us on wrong train...and instead of being in Llandudno at 9pm...we ended up in Liverpool Lime Street! .. sat in a dingy back street pub whilst everyone was at our Wedding Party having a great time! We then had to try and get back to Wales somehow....after chatting to an old bloke in the vault for 2 hours!!!...and buying him a few Brown Ales!
