In the early to late seventies Showaddywaddy were one of the biggest selling (if not the biggest) chart acts of the time. They had 18 top 40 hits (ten were top 10)in the 70s and several more in the early 80s. One of their hits was "Hey mr christmas" which was a hit xmas 1974, the same era as Wizzard, Slade, Mud, etc had their christmas hits. Given the popularity of Showaddywaddy, even today they are very popular on the 70s revival circuit, Why is "Hey Mr Christmas" never included on Christmas compilation CDs? Or on TV and radio? I dont think Ive ever heard it played on air since its day as a hit.
If I had thought of it earlier I would have started a campaign to bring it back!! Oh well, maybe next year!
