MM Links Results July 2011 [Wk 2]

After a frantic weekend, I can reveal that 'The Ice Queen' selected the following links:

COMPASS point
HOLY water
TREE line
BIRD bath

Some of these were signalled in the preamble (if you could avoid the too-obvious red herrings).

I have been out all afternoon, so there will be a short delay while I calculate the scores.

Sadly, another low scoring week.

Right from the start the points were flowing. Entrant #1 Roslyn matched COMPASS POINT for 2 points. Did she pick up on the preamble "latitudinal position"? I thought not! Grannydi was within 2 minutes to qualif for the same bonus (2 points). Then later, Kawakiri and Ulysses100 picked up a single on the same link.

Rockfordill then showed his North American roots as entrant #5 by matching two Canadian links for 4 points. TREE LINE and BIRD BATH.

Did he spot the clue referring to the northern limit of the forest trees?

Then Centrino and Cliffyg picked up two points as well for the same link of BIRD BATH , with JIMjools, Jobjockey, Brenden & Paulineward collecting single points.

Amazingly (or was it chance?) Strix picked up on the hint " The Indians say the water is sacred" and opted for HOLY WATER for 2 points. Much later, Wickedtongue was able to emulate that for 1 point.

I almost forgot a very important duty.

A warm welcome to new player ManxieMo, who sadly scored nul points this week.

Maybe it is a handicap not to have a tail?

The Leaderboard shows congestion at the top after 2 wereks (of 5).

On 2 points are: beejay1124, JIMjools, roslyn251254 & Strix
Single-pointers are: Brenden, jobjockey, kawakiri, teacher1, ulysses100 wickedtongue.

I am now off with a blow-torch to melt an entry into the Ice Castle and torture the Queen of Ice into handing out lots more points next weekend.

Hi Gen2
A cruise missile will be needed so put your blow torch away.
I'm handing out clues right left and centre but they are not being picked up. I note that you have pointed out some of the obvious ones.
The most obvious one to me which wasn't picked up at all was the fact that due to the numbers of birds over the park, aircraft had to be diverted. Why? Fear of Bird STRIKE.
I'll try to be more generous next week. I actually thought I WAS being generous all along.
Congratulations to those who did pick up the clues and earned points by doing so.

Much as I like being on top of the leader board, I think you will find on scrutiny that I got one right last week and one this week - both with bonus points, which only makes 4 points. Unless you made a typo and we all have 4 points!!!

Yes Grannydi, you are correct.

I was in a rush and the light was fading. I made a stab in the direction of the '4' key and didn't notice that I'd hit the 5 key by mistake.

Everyone on the top level of the leaderboard actually have FOUR (4) points.

I did think about Bird Strike but after much thought I decided on Bird Seed. I'll go with my first instinct next week and see if I can score a point. Well done all point scorers and thank you Ice Queen for your insight to life in Canada.
